My role involves managing the GFTU and GFTUET communications, marketing campaigns, websites and social media presences and also organise our presence at external events.

Mark Robinson

Education Coordinator

I am responsible for the efficient, timely administration of the core and bespoke training and development programmes offered by GFTU ET. I regularly liaise and communicate with course tutors, students, trade unions and Quorn Grange Hotel as well as coordinate training venues and project events.

Henry Fowler

Head of Education, Campaigns and Organising

My role is to develop our education programmes and support affiliates with bespoke educational courses and development of activists. I provide campaigns, communications and organising support to trade unions. Before joining the GFTU Educational Trust, I was a National Campaigns Manager at the National Education Union. My background is as a trade union organiser. Prior to that I was a shop steward and branch secretary.

Research, Knowledge Exchange & Fundraising Officer

I consolidate and develop partnerships between GFTU and higher education organisations and deliver the GFTU ET fundraising strategy. I am also responsible for seeking and securing partnerships and income from research grants. I also contribute towards other capacity building initiatives and communication functions.

Preeti Doshi

Head of Finance

As Head of Finance my main responsibility is to manage financial health and stability of the company (GFTU and its subsidiaries), providing financial insights and guidance to support decision making, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standard. I am also involved in financial risk management, budgeting, financial modelling, investment analysis and optimising financial processes to drive efficiency and profitability of GFTU and its subsidiaries.

Finance Officer / Bookkeeper

I am proud to be a part of this organization. I work as a Finance Officer and my responsibilities include maintaining and inputting financial records on system, credit control, reconcile bank statements, updating cashflow spreadsheets, monitoring the organisation’s finance health and participate in financial audits.

Senior Finance Officer - External Clients

As a Senior Finance Officer, my main responsibility is to prepare management reports, KPIs and commentaries for external clients. In addition, I’m responsible for interpreting the results and providing a written reports of data analyses. Working collaboratively and in supportive manner within the Finance team, other departments to ensure that the overall aims and objectives are achieved.

I am a PhD candidate at Department of Economics, SOAS University of London. My research interests include financialisation, housing, pensions, insurance, asset-based welfare, and class reproduction. I have organised various workshops and seminars, including the Lecture Series in Advanced Political Economy (SAPE) in collaboration with the New School for Social Research in New York. I've been actively involved in organising fractional teaching staff at SOAS and anti-casualisation movement across universities in the UK. I also have connections with trade union leaders, activists, and academics in South Korea.

I have been active in the trade union and labour movement since 2001. I became a trade union tutor in 2021 working across the midlands and nationally. Prior to that I was an official for the TSSA union, and previously a Unite rep.

Les Doherty

Education Officer - Course Development

Les is a former sheet metal worker, senior shop steward and health & safety representative with 35 years’ experience working in the field of trade union education. Les has extensive experience tutoring and developing programmes of learning for a wide range of workplace union organisations supporting new and experienced representatives in their role at work.
