Branch Officers' Development Course
About The Course
Our Branch Officers’ Development Course is designed for anyone holding a branch level role across the trade union movement.
While much of our programme rightly focuses on workplace reps and stewards, this course is about those who bring that activity together – supporting the people who coordinate, develop, and lead across a branch, whether by employer or geography.
Whether you are new to your role or bring years of experience, this course creates space to reflect, share, and challenge. Together, we will explore different branch models from across the movement and ask a central question: what does an effective, organising-focused branch really look like?
The course will equip you with practical tools and strategies to strengthen your branch. This includes developing skills in coaching and mentoring, identifying and nurturing new activists, and building a strong pipeline of workplace reps and stewards.
Alongside this, we will focus on how to grow activism and engagement across your branch, drawing on ideas and debates around trade union renewal – so that branches are not just servicing members, but actively building power.
